TALK BY GERALD TRIPP

On Thursday 19th February 2026, Gerald Tripp will be giving a talk on: "The Montefiore Estate and Surrounding Land".

Sir Moses Montefiore acquired East Cliff Lodge in May 1831.  The estate was in a rural area bordering the cliff tops on the border between the parishes of St. Laurence and St. Peter's.  The nearest villages were Hereson towards the southwest and Dumpton to the northwest.   This talk will look at the history of East Cliff Lodge itself and the changes in ownership and use of land surrounding the estate.

Please note that the Synagogue is not open on Saturdays and Jewish holy days.  3 workings days notice is required for visits and there is a suggested donation of £4 per person payable to the Synagogue maintenance box.
